About this place
At Tower Terrace, the buffet lets you sample Kyoto-style small dishes and yuba and tofu preparations before moving on to kiln-baked dishes and matcha sweets. The restaurant is on the 3 floor of Kyoto Tower Hotel. At lunch, the spread includes Kyoto vegetables, meat and pizza cooked in the kiln, alongside Japanese, Western and ethnic dishes and a selection of matcha desserts. One diner described enjoying yuba and tofu dishes made with Kyoto dashi, as well as grilled Kyoto pork with either a Japanese horseradish sauce or ponzu and spring onion. Another lunch guest mentioned yudofu, pho, rice porridge with a choice of toppings and kiln-baked pizza. The selection centres on Kyoto flavours while leaving room to build a plate to suit your mood.
For dessert, there are matcha cakes, warabi mochi, shiratama and other sweets. One lunch guest said they paired the matcha desserts with tea from 辻利. At the breakfast buffet, you can start with Japanese dishes such as obanzai, ochazuke made with pickles and grated yamato yam. The vegetable salad comes with an original fruit dressing made with strawberries and kiwi. Dinner brings obanzai and kiln-baked dishes, steak cooked in front of diners, matcha desserts and 辻利's TEABAR. An all-you-can-drink option is available with a meal, but must be booked by the previous day.
Rather than centring on one large signature dish, the buffet is suited to trying a range of Kyoto flavours and lingering over sweets and tea afterwards. Group dining is also offered, and reservations are recommended for dinner.
